"The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He dwells between the Cherubim; let the Earth be moved!
The Lord is great in Zion,
and he is high above all the Peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name.
He is Holy!"
Psalms 99:1-3
In the first chapter of the book of Ezekiel there is a depiction of the Lord upon a throne with four living creatures beneath him. These creatures called “Cherubim” have four faces and four wings. They move swiftly in many directions and have a glory all their own.
In chapter four of the book of Revelation the Cherubim are pictured, once again, positioning themselves around the Throne in heaven. This time they each have one face; One like a Lion, the second like a calf, the third like a face of a man, and The fourth like an Eagle.
The intention of this song is to try and capture the Glory and Honor associated with the “Ancient of Days”, the Father, and the one who rides on the Cherubim, the Son.
For addition information on the Cherubim refer to Bullinger`s work on the subject;
