"Shall your wonders be known in the dark? And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?"
Psalm 88:12
This verse from a psalm written by Herman the Ezrahite refers to the place of the dead as being “ in the land of forgetfulness”. This phrase aptly pictures the condition
of us when we die; the memory of our existence eventually fades into the pages of history.
Solomon, also says in Ecclesiastes 9:5; “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more reward; for the memory of them is forgotten”.
This would be a sad commentary, of our time here on earth, if this was the ultimate conclusion; We live out our short lives and return to the earth never to exist again.
This song describes the hope we have in a supernatural being that does not forget us and leave us in the grave but resurrects us to an eternal life full of joy and love.
